Goals and automatic time blocking
Give something hours a week, or let Daykite find time for your tasks before they're due.
Goals
A goal is something you want to spend a number of hours a week on — Build Project Alpha, 10 hours a week. Daykite finds that time in your calendar and keeps count.
- Open Goals in the sidebar and choose New goal.
- Set the hours a week, the best time of day, the shortest and longest block, and optionally an end date.
- Choose Find time — or Find 2h on one goal. From the fifth day of your week on, it plans the next week instead, since there's little of this one left.
Daykite shows the blocks it found, each with its rating (★1–5). Untick any you don't want, then Add to calendar. Blocks go in as focus time, shown to others as busy.
Each goal shows this week's progress: what's done (blocks already past) and what's on the calendar, against the target.
Automatic time blocking for tasks
On Tasks, Auto-schedule looks at your open tasks due in the next two weeks (and high-priority ones without a date). For each, it takes what's left of the estimate, minus time already on the calendar, and places it in your best free time before the due date — split into blocks of up to two hours.
Anything that doesn't fit before its due date is listed, so you can move a deadline or free some time.
How time is chosen
Both use the availability engine: only free time inside your working hours (so an evenings goal needs working hours that reach into the evening), never protected time, best-rated first, with ten minutes' breathing room after each block. Tasks are placed by due date, then priority.
You can also ask the assistant: "Schedule my tasks this week" or "Plan my goals".
