Outlook mail
Send email from your Outlook or Microsoft 365 address in automations, and turn a message with a category into a task that links back to it.
Experimental. Integrations are still being tested. They may not run, or may give incomplete or wrong results — check anything important yourself, and tell us what goes wrong.
Connecting Outlook mail does two things:
- Automations send email from your Outlook address, and it lands in your Sent Items.
- Categorised mail becomes tasks. Give a message a category in Outlook and a task appears in Daykite, with a link back to the message.
It works with personal Microsoft accounts (Outlook.com, Hotmail, Live) and work or school Microsoft 365 accounts.
Connect
Integrations → Outlook mail → Connect Outlook mail. Microsoft asks for permission to send mail as you and to read and update your mail. Daykite reads only the messages carrying the category you choose. If Outlook Calendar is already connected, this uses the same connection, and you keep the calendar.
Work or school account? Some organisations only let apps read mail after an administrator approves them. If Microsoft says you need admin approval, ask your IT admin to approve Daykite, then connect again.
Send email from automations
Nothing else to set up. Any automation with a Send an email step now sends from your Outlook address:
When a booking is made → Send an email to
{guest.email}, subjectSee you soon, {guest.name}.
If both Gmail and Outlook mail are connected, Gmail is used. With neither, the same automation still works: the email comes from Daykite instead. See Every trigger and action.
Turn categorised mail into tasks
- In Daykite, on the Outlook mail card, type a category name (Daykite is a good one). Choose which of your own lists the tasks go into, then choose Watch.
- In Outlook, give any message that category. Right-click it → Categorize. The first time, choose All categories → New and type the same name.
- Within a minute it's a task in that list, titled with the email's subject, with the sender and a preview of the message in its notes.
- The task keeps a link back to the message in Outlook on the web.
- The category is taken off the message once it's filed, and any other categories stay. Each message becomes one task, even if you put the category back.
- Update changes the category or list; Stop stops watching.
- The card shows when Outlook was last checked, and any problem.
Disconnect
Choose Disconnect on the Outlook Calendar card; the calendar and mail share one Microsoft connection. To remove Daykite from your Microsoft account too, see Outlook Calendar → Disconnect.
