On your phone, offline, and the API
Using Daykite on a phone today, what works without a connection, and building on the public API.
On your phone
Daykite runs in your phone's browser today, with a layout made for small screens:
- A tab bar along the bottom — Today, Calendar, Projects, Tasks and More.
- The round + button creates an event, focus block, reminder or task.
- More holds Routines, Bookings, Integrations, Automations, Help and Settings.
- 3 days and Agenda views are the most comfortable on a narrow screen.
Add it to your home screen to open it like an app:
- iPhone (Safari): Share → Add to Home Screen.
- Android (Chrome): ⋮ menu → Add to Home screen or Install app.
iPhone and Android apps are being built on the same public API.
Offline
On a flaky train connection, Daykite keeps working as far as it can:
- Reading: calendar views you've recently opened are kept, so this week is still there without a connection.
- Creating events: a new event saved while you're offline is queued and sent the moment you're back online.
- Everything else — editing, bookings, tasks — needs a connection, and tells you if it couldn't save.
The API
Everything the app does goes through a public API, so you can build on Daykite too.
- Personal scripts and automation tools use an API key with just the scopes they need — see API keys, webhooks and OAuth apps.
- Hearing about changes — webhooks send a signed request the moment something happens.
- Apps for other people use OAuth, so nobody hands over a key.
- Mobile-friendly: one call returns everything needed to start, and another returns only what changed since last time.
