Slack
Post to a Slack channel from any automation — new bookings, finished tasks, anything with a trigger.
Experimental. Integrations are still being tested. They may not run, or may give incomplete or wrong results — check anything important yourself, and tell us what goes wrong.
Connect Slack once, and any automation can post to your workspace's channels with a Post to Slack step.
Connect
- Integrations → Slack → Connect.
- Choose your workspace (top right on Slack's screen) and Allow.
Daykite joins the workspace as @Daykite, and asks Slack for only what posting needs:
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
| Send messages, including to public channels it hasn't joined | To post where your automation says |
| See the names of public channels, and private channels it's in | So you can choose a channel from a list |
Daykite can't read messages, see who's in the workspace, or send direct messages. Some workspaces only let admins add apps. If Slack asks for approval, your admin gets the request.
Post from an automation
- Open an automation and add Post to Slack (under Integrations).
- Channel: choose from the list. A private channel only appears once you've invited Daykite to it: in the channel,
type
/invite @Daykite. - Message: write what to say, with placeholders from the trigger.
Text that fills a placeholder can't mention @channel or @here or add links. A guest who types <!channel> into a
booking form can't ping your whole workspace. Mentions you write into the message yourself still work.
When a post fails
The automation's Runs say why, in plain words:
- That Slack channel doesn't exist any more: it was deleted or renamed into a private channel. Choose the channel again.
- Daykite isn't in that private channel: type
/invite @Daykitein the channel. - That Slack channel is archived: choose another channel.
- Slack no longer accepts Daykite's connection: the app was removed from the workspace. The Slack card shows Reconnect.
Disconnect
Disconnect on the Slack card removes Daykite's access at Slack straight away. Automations with a Post to Slack step stop at that step until Slack is connected again.
