Twilio text messages
Send a text message from any automation, through your own Twilio number.
Experimental. Integrations are still being tested. They may not run, or may give incomplete or wrong results — check anything important yourself, and tell us what goes wrong.
With Twilio connected, automations get a Send a text message step: a confirmation when someone books, a reminder before an event, a heads-up to your phone when a form comes in.
Texts go through your own Twilio account and number, so Twilio bills them there at its usual rates.
Connect
- In the Twilio Console, note your Account SID (starts with
AC). - Under Account → API keys & tokens, create a Standard API key named
Daykite. Copy its SID (starts withSK) and secret — Twilio shows the secret once. - In Daykite, Integrations → Chat → Twilio: enter the Account SID, the API key SID and secret, and the number to
send from, like
+14155550123(or a Messaging Service SID starting withMG), then Connect.
Daykite checks the details with Twilio and that the number is on your account, then stores the secret encrypted. You can use your Auth Token instead of an API key by leaving the API key SID empty, but an API key is safer: you can revoke it on its own.
The step
| Setting | Notes |
|---|---|
| To | A number in international format, like +447700900123, or one placeholder that holds one, like {body.phone} or {answers.phone}. Spaces, dashes and brackets in the filled-in number are ignored. |
| Message | Up to 1,600 characters, with placeholders. Long texts are sent as several parts, each billed by Twilio. |
If the placeholder doesn't fill with a proper number, the step fails and nothing is sent — the run shows why.
Limits
- 100 texts a day per connection, so a looping automation can't run up a bill. Further texts that day fail with a clear message in the run.
- Texting some countries needs a registered number or sender (for example A2P 10DLC in the US) — set that up in Twilio.
- Only text people who've agreed to hear from you.
To stop, Disconnect on the card, and delete the API key in Twilio.
