How the meeting cost calculator works
One meeting costs people × average hourly cost × hours. A weekly meeting happens 52 times a year, a monthly one 12.
Hourly cost is whatever you want it to mean: salary alone, or with overheads (often 1.25–1.4 × salary).
Nothing you enter leaves your browser.
Examples
- 8 people at $50 an hour for 60 minutes is $400. Four times a month, that's $1,600 a month and $19,200 a year.
- A 15-minute stand-up every weekday for 6 people at £40 an hour costs £60 a day — £15,600 a year.
Good for
- Deciding whether a recurring meeting earns its place
- Making the case for shorter or fewer meetings
- Budgeting a workshop
Frequently asked questions
- What hourly cost should I use?
- For a rough figure, annual salary ÷ 2,080. For a fuller one, multiply that by 1.25–1.4 to include taxes, benefits and overheads.
- Does it count time lost to context switching?
- No — it counts the meeting itself. The Focus Time Calculator shows how meetings break up the rest of the day.
