Self-custody wallets fail their users most often through recovery, not security — a lost phone and an unfindable seed phrase is how the majority of personal crypto losses actually happen, not hacks. The client wanted a wallet ordinary users could trust with their recovery, not just their private keys.
We treated recovery as the primary design problem, not an afterthought to security. Social recovery and encrypted cloud backup exist alongside the standard seed phrase, so losing a phone doesn't mean losing the wallet. Every outbound transaction is biometric-gated, and multi-chain send, receive and swap ship with gas estimation that doesn't guess wrong.
Users have a real recovery path that doesn't depend on a piece of paper surviving a house move, without weakening the non-custodial guarantee that keys never leave the device.
Failed-transaction support tickets dropped by more than half after the gas estimation rework, and social recovery has been the primary recovery path used in every real recovery case since launch.
